The Charlotte Bobcats were welcomed with smiles, hugs and even a song as they visited Presbyterian Hemby Children’s Hospital on March 8, 2010.
Bobcats players Derrick Brown, Stephen Graham and Theo Ratliff, along with mascot Rufus, came out to brighten up the day of some of the many children who were hospitalized for various treatments.
Rufus and the players went room to room giving gifts, signing autographs, talking and playing around with the children and their families.
"We always appreciate coming to the hospital, giving back, and saying hi to the kids," said Graham. "We’re just giving them some gifts and trying and brighten up their day a little bit."
The players also had their day brightened a bit as one patient, Jordan, surprised her guests with a special song.
"I love the Bobcats," she sang excitedly to Rufus, Brown, Graham and Ratliff. "I love the Bobcats. I love the Bobcats. I love the Bobcats," is all the young girl could say as Rufus and the players walked into her room.
"This is very humbling, coming out here seeing the kids in situations like this makes you realize that whenever you have a bad day, it could be a lot worse," said Brown. "Knowing that just coming out here makes their day that much better is always great for us."
