Milton Lee -- General Manager of Minor League Operations, Brooklyn Nets

Milton Lee was named the Brooklyn Nets’ General Manager of Minor League Operations on August 10, 2011. Lee’s duties include overseeing all of the Armor’s basketball operations. Previously, Lee had served as the Nets’ Director of Basketball Operations, overseeing the Nets’ statistical and analytical buildout and the Nets’ basketball operations campus in the Barclays Center. Lee also continues to assist Nets’ General Manager Billy King and Assistant General Manager Bobby Marks with player personnel matters.

Prior to joining the Nets, Lee started his own basketball services company where he worked in various capacities with the NBA, NBA teams and NBA players. Lee served as an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Clippers’ summer league team in 2008 and 2009, and has been a consultant to the NBA at the past six Pre-Draft Combines. Earlier in his career, Lee worked as a proprietary trader on Wall Street for ING Barings and SAC Capital. Lee interned for the NBA at three consecutive Olympic Games, including 1992, for the original "Dream Team."

A native of Bergen County, New Jersey, Lee is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a member of the junior varsity basketball team.



Bob MacKinnon – Head Coach

Bob MacKinnon was named the second head coach in Armor history on September 14, 2011. MacKinnon comes to Springfield with 30 years of coaching experience, including stops in the ACC, Big East and NBA D-League.

A native of Buffalo, NY, MacKinnon began his coaching career during his college days, serving as an assistant during his senior season at King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, PA. After graduating in 1982, MacKinnon joined the staff at Mercyhurst College as an assistant from 1982-85. He then moved on to George Washington University, where he worked as an assistant under former Detroit Pistons head coach and current Los Angeles Lakers assistant, John Kuester, from 1985-1990, before joining Niagara University as an associate head coach from 1990-97. During his time at Niagara, MacKinnon also completed his Master’s in Education.

In 1997, MacKinnon landed his first head coaching job when he was hired at the United States Merchant Marine Academy in King’s Point, NY. In his two years at USMMA, he led the Mariners to two Skyline Conference championships, guiding his team to a pair of NCAA tournament appearances and taking home the Skyline Conference Coach of the Year award in 1999. From there, MacKinnon accepted a position on Matt Doherty’s staff at Notre Dame, where he served as an assistant with the Fighting Irish for the 1999-2000 season. MacKinnon then joined Doherty at the University of North Carolina, where he was an assistant with the Tar Heels from 2000-03. During his first season as an assistant, the Tar Heels were ranked as high as number one in the country and enjoyed an 18-game winning streak. He then became the senior assistant coach at Marshall University from 2003-07 before taking a position with the Los Angeles Lakers as both their associate director of summer camps and as a regional scout from 2005-08.

MacKinnon has also had two stints as a head coach in the NBA D-League. MacKinnon led the Colorado 14ers during the 2008-09 season, capturing a D-League championship in his only season with the team. During his time with the 14ers, MacKinnon compiled a 34-16 regular season record, a perfect 4-0 playoff record and had two Gatorade NBA Call-Ups (Eddie Gill, twice, with the Milwaukee Bucks). MacKinnon’s 2008-09 team is still the highest scoring team in NBA D-League history, averaging 118.9 points per game. The 2008-09 14ers also still hold the D-League record for most points scored in a regulation game (155).

Directly following his stint in Colorado, MacKinnon moved on to become the head coach of the Idaho Stampede for the 2009-10 season. The Stampede compiled a record of 25-25, missing the playoffs by one game. During his season in Idaho, the Stampede had three players receive a total of five Gatorade NBA Call-Ups. Sundiata Gaines, Coby Karl and Anthony Tolliver all received call-ups, with Gaines and Tolliver eventually signing long-term contracts in the NBA. Most recently, MacKinnon was the head coach and a consultant for the TianJin Rongcheng Gold Lions of the Chinese Basketball Association.

MacKinnon is the son of Bob MacKinnon, Sr., who served in various capacities with the New Jersey Nets, including stints as the team’s interim head coach and general manager, from 1982-89.

MacKinnon and his wife Suzanne reside in Chapel Hill, NC in the off-season. They have four sons, Bobby Jr. (18), Matthew (15), Brendan (10) and Ryan (6).




Chris Carrawell-- Assistant Coach

Chris Carrawell was named the second assistant coach in Armor history on September 20, 2011.

A native of St. Louis, MO, Carrawell enjoyed a stellar playing career at Duke University, where he was a four year starter from 1996-2000 under Hall of Fame Head Coach, Mike Krzyzewski. Carrawell capped his career at Duke by capturing Associated Press First Team All-American honors, as well as the ACC Player of the Year award during his senior season. Duke advanced to the NCAA Tournament all four years Carrawell was in school and captured four straight ACC regular season titles. During Carrawell’s collegiate career, the Blue Devils compiled a record of 133-24, including a 58-6 mark in ACC play. Carrawell started every game during the 1998-99 season when Duke compiled a 37-2 record, eventually falling to the University of Connecticut in the 1999 national title game.

After leaving Duke, Carrawell was drafted 41st overall by the San Antonio Spurs in 2000. He ultimately headed to Italy, where he played the first year of his professional career before returning stateside to play in the NBA Development League in its first year of existence with the Asheville (NC) Altitude for the 2001-02 season. Carrawell spent the next six years playing in Lithuania, Germany, Australia, the Philippines, the American Basketball Association (ABA) and the Netherlands before retiring in 2007. Carrawell was also a star in his high school days as a four-year starter at Cardinal Ritter College Prep in his hometown of St. Louis, where he won back-to-back state championships in his junior and senior seasons. Carrawell played alongside former NBA players Jahidi White and Loren Woods during his high school days.

Following the conclusion of his playing career in 2007, Carrawell returned to Duke to take a position as the university’s athletic department community outreach coordinator. Carrawell also served as a graduate assistant team manager from 2007-08 before shifting to a role as an assistant strength and conditioning coach and assistant video coordinator from 2008-2010. He then moved on to a position as a special assistant to the Duke women’s basketball program in 2011 before landing in Springfield with the Armor.

Carrawell and his wife Keisha reside in Durham, NC during the offseason with their sons Caleb (10) and Christian (3).




Mark Mahoney – Athletic Trainer

Mark Mahoney is in his first season as the Armor’s Head Athletic Trainer. Before joining the Armor, Mahoney served as the Head Athletic Trainer for the Kansas City Command of the Arena Football League. He also spent the 2010 NFL season as an athletic training intern with the Kansas City Chiefs.

A native of Derby, KS, Mahoney completed his master’s degree in Exercise Science and Athletic Administration at the University of South Dakota in 2010. While completing his master’s, Mahoney worked as an athletic trainer with the Sioux City Explorers of the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball. Prior to attending the University of South Dakota, Mahoney received his Bachelor of Arts in Athletic Training from Emporia State University in 2008.
